PelicanPosted by Organik Mum (Victoria, Australia) on 15 September 2007 in Animal & Insect. The Australian Pelican - Pelecanus conspicillatus Pelican miscellanea: The birds have 4 webbed toes. Pelicans are found on all continents except Antarctic. Groups of pelicans are known as pods, scoops or squadrons. Pelicans are ancient. Pelican fossils have been dated at 40 million years. Pelican chicks communicate with their mothers while still in the egg. They can communicate as to whether they are too hot or cold. They also listen to their parents from the egg - so when they emerge, they have no trouble identifying their parents. Thanks for stopping by my visual journal! Any comments written, are greatly appreciated. I take photos because I enjoy it, I find it relaxing, it's a creative outlet and because I can't draw! lol I have no style to speak of. If something catches my eye, I'll photograph it, as I perceive it. I'm experimental if I do any PP work to a photo, as this is part of the creative process for me. So as you can see, I have no aspirations to be a Master Photographer. I take photos simply because I enjoy it. If you're interested there are more bits and pieces here.
